Abstract

The method for assessing the strength characteristics of batteries of mine electric locomotives presented in the article makes it possible to determine the calculated stresses in the lateral vertical and horizontal surfaces of the battery case made of impact-resistant thermoplastics under the influence of horizontal or vertical shock loads. It has been established that the stresses arising in the side walls of the battery case with a thickness of less than 12.5 mm, under critical horizontal impacts, exceed the allowable values of the bending stress. The thickness of the walls of the storage battery of a mine electric locomotive, made of a block copolymer of propylene with ethylene, must be at least 18 mm, in this case, the safety factor will be 1.5. The aspect ratio of the battery case has a direct effect on the stresses in the walls under critical horizontal shock loads.
