Abstract

The questions related to formalisation of knowledge of the subject area of mechanical engineering are considered. Particular attention is paid to the concept of "property", which determines the place of a term that designates a "real object" or "process" in the terminological system and is the basis for carrying out optimisation calculations at different stages of design. The method of knowledge structuring for representation of real objects, processes, conceptual objects and their properties within the terminological system of the subject area of mechanical engineering is proposed. It is noted that this method allows to create a basis both for solving engineering problems and for coordination of already existing knowledge models implemented in automated systems at different stages of design in order to integrate all stages of machine-building production.
