The influence of hydrophobisation on qualitative characteristics of lump peat is considered. The results of experiments on studying the drying process of fine lump peat with hydrophobic additives are given. It is established that the use of hydrophobiser can reduce the initial moisture content of moulding, which will lead to a reduction in energy consumption and improve the technological performance of the production process. It is noted that the use of hydrophobic additive significantly increases the strength characteristics of peat, due to which the quality of finished products is improved. It is indicated that hydrophobic films reliably isolate the surface of the piece from the penetration of liquid-drop moisture.
